Job Description

Reports to: Production Manager
Direct Reports: 1 x Technical Setter (team may grow with company expansion)

About the Role
Our client, a leader in the plastic manufacturing sector, is seeking a dynamic and proactive Roll On Ball Manufacturing. This individual will oversee the Roll On Ball Manufacturing operation and all associated support equipment, ensuring optimal production efficiency and compliance with industry standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Production & Efficiency

    • Ensure consistent production outputs with OEE > 92%
    • Maintain OTIF targets with proactive measures to prevent downtime
    • Manage reject and scrap rates at < 0.5%
    • Drive plant layout improvements with a focus on industrial automation
    • Implement reliability principles, targeting:
      • Unscheduled downtime < 10%
      • Equipment reliability > 90%
      • Planned downtime accuracy > 90%
  2. Compliance & Quality Assurance

    • Ensure production areas comply with GMP, ISO, and QA standards
    • Conduct gap analysis and plan for continuous compliance improvements
    • Regular reporting on compliance progress and milestones
  3. Maintenance & Technical Support

    • Oversee preventative maintenance programs and equipment servicing
    • Ensure availability of critical spares and safekeeping of tooling
    • Provide technical support to other departments (Toolroom, Maintenance)
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  4. Leadership & Continuous Improvement

    • Lead, manage, and motivate subordinates, adhering to company policies
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, auditing and reporting on successes
    • Address non-conformance reports (NCRs) promptly
    • Ensure team compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) practices
  5. General & Administrative Duties

    • Complete documentation related to manufacturing and compliance
    • Support Bowler Plastics and subsidiaries in line with team capacity
    • Work overtime as needed to meet deadlines

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification (Mech/Elec/Automation)
  • Strong technical aptitude with experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial Automation
  • Proven experience in ISO 9001:2000 compliance
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-driven approach with a sense of urgency and responsibility
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
